Admittedly, I’m not a huge fan of being outdoors in the winter – especially in the type of winter we’re having right now – but I love the opportunity of getting a good healthy workout that gets my cheeks flushed and my heart pounding. Recently I stopped by at the ice rink in the Bank of America Winter Village with my daughter. We had a lot of fun skating inside the gorgeous Bryant Park and the convenient location plus the fact that admission is actually free made me consider buying my daughter and myself ice skates! Here’s my recap of our experience:
When we got to the rink there was a line but in fact, the rink is huge and now that the holidays are over it’s not as crowded as in the picture below (but just as stunning!):There’s a locker and bag check, for an extra free:What I really loved about the rink is the attentive staff. There were a few staff on the ice who were constantly making sure that everyone was safe. They were very helpful and came over as soon as anyone had even a minor fall.As mentioned, the rink is free and you can bring your own skates. Renting a pair is $15. There’s also skate lessons and skate sharpening for an additional price. Stop by Ice Bites, the cafe or visit Celcius, a sit-down restaurant with spectacular views of the ice rink and the park. The restaurant, like the rink, is open until March 2, 2014. With winter recess around the corner, the ice rink is a perfect place to stop by with your kids.
