IMG_8285A few weeks ago I attended a luncheon with my children to celebrate a new animated show that just launched on Sprout: Astroblast! The show, based on the book series of the same name, has been produced by Scholastic Media and is an adorable and unique show currently playing seven days a week. At the event we learned about the show, met Nina from the Good Night Show and had incredible food (and desserts!) Read the rest of this entry

Don’t Miss: Peace, Love and Cupcakes the Musical

Standard

PLC-PP-05NYC kids are in for a delicious treat this summer: there’s a new show from Vital Theater and it’s all about cupcakes! After the success of the musicals Angelina Ballerina, Fancy Nancy and Pinkalicious (the last one is still playing) Vital Theater has produced Peace, Love and Cupcakes, a new musical based on the best-seller by the same name. The original book is written by Sheryl Berk (co-author of Soul Surfer) and her daughter, Carrie Berk, 11, who co-wrote it while in second grade! I recently attended a performance with my kids and we were all enamored with this fun production. Read the rest of this entry

Cook Academy & Camp Cook at the Essex Resort & Spa

Standard

IMG_8038I love cooking from scratch whenever possible but I’ve never tried making lasagna with home-made pasta, ricotta and mozzarella. At Camp Cook in Vermont kids as young as 10 years old make this dish — as well as many others from scratch and on a regular basis. I recently spent a few days at the Essex Resort and Spa in Vermont to learn about Camp Cook and even participated in a class at Cook Academy – a cooking class program for adults. Here’s a re-cap of my experience plus some recipes. Read the rest of this entry

Weekend Getaway Idea: The Essex Resort & Spa in Vermont

Standard

Aerial3My husband and I are big fans of road trips. The kids? Not so much. Last weekend my family and I took a five-and-a-half hour drive from NYC to the Essex Resort & Spa in Essex, Vermont with three small kids in tow. How did it go? Perfectly fine – the kids did great, probably due to the fact that we promised them a visit to the Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream Factory. As it happens, people will do a lot when it comes to great food and what place is better for foodies than Essex, near Burlington, Vermont –  a city known for its incredible restaurants?! With innovative chefs that use a considerable amount of locally-derived food for their dishes, Burlington has emerged as one of the top cities for foodies in the U.S. On our agenda was a two-night stay at the Essex Resort & Spa and I was planning on checking out Camp Cook, a kids’ cooking camp, as well as trying an adult cooking class. What we got was everything on our list and then some. Read the rest of this entry

Take Along Soccer Match from Playmobil

Standard

4725_product_box_frontMy my five-year-old son is a soccer afficionado and has been into the World Cup games, like pretty much everyone else we know. He loves kicking his soccer ball in the living room while watching game highlights with his father in the evenings. This is why I was so excited for him when I received the Playmobil Take Along Soccer Match game. Here’s what we thought: Read the rest of this entry

Camelbeach Mountain Waterpark in the Poconos

CamelbeachFor many, the Poconos region is just  a cheesy honeymoon destination but those days are long-gone. The Poconos region is now a thriving destination for families who want a little edge to their getaway, all at a quick 90-minute drive from NYC! A couple of weeks ago I went zip lining, had top-notch sushi, went to a water park and stayed at a hotel with stunning mountain views. My family and I had an unforgettable weekend at the Poconos and we can’t wait to go back! Read the rest of this entry

Tom’s of Maine Toddler Training Toothpaste: An All-Natural Toothpaste for Your Baby’s First Teeth

Standard

TP_ToddlerTrainingMy 21-month-old has almost all of his teeth by now and unlike his older siblings, he actually likes brushing his teeth. Go figure! While my older kids have been using the Tom’s of Maine Silly Strawberry toothpaste, my youngest is a little too young for it. Luckily Tom’s of Maine recently launched a toothpaste made for very young children and I’ve received a sample for review. Here’s what I thought: Read the rest of this entry
