Movie Review: The Hero of Color City

Standard

photo02Although Fall is one of the best times to go see movies in the theater, there seems to be a shortage of kid-friendly movies right now. I’m talking about G-rated, wholesome movies that you can take a toddler to and not worry about violence or inappropriate content. When I received an invitation from The MOMS to attend a screening of The Hero of Color City I was excited – I had no idea a toddler-friendly movie was coming out and I was really looking forward to seeing it with my kids. The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure – Opening 8/29!

Standard

Moms in today’s society face a tremendous pressure to “keep up” with this fast-changing world. Toddlers are growing up so quickly that they are expected to be able to handle PG-rated movies that usually deal with concepts that are way over their heads, such as war and death. Oftentimes there are movies that – if they were not animated – would be pretty difficult to watch, even for adults. G-rated movies that just have innocent fun are hard to come by. But perhaps these types of movies are actually better for young kids?! And what if these types of movies include dances and sing-a-longs, so that kids can actually get a little workout and even interact with the characters on the screen?!

The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure is an interactive movie aimed at kids ages 2-8 that encourages kids to sing and dance along with the characters. The film is about 3 friends who are searching for golden balloons and end up meeting some interesting friends along the way. It stars Toni Braxton, Jaime Pressly, Cary Elwes, Christopher Lloyd and more.

Visit the Oogieloves website for songs and videos from the film, online games, printable puzzles and coloring pages and even a special PDF file for parents with information on how to prepare kids for the movie so that they’d get the most out of it, in terms of getting them to participate during the film and even helping them learn some of the vocabulary used in the film.

The Oogieloves in The Big Balloon Adventure is coming to theaters on August 29th. Be sure to check it out with your little ones!
